Politics: The Shock Doctrine

Klein's "Shock Doctrine" is an alternative history of economic and political institutions from Nixon and Chile to Bush, Iraq and Katrina; in this story, free-market fundamentalists trump up crises to impose privatization, tax cuts, and government spending cuts during times of "shock." Pretty persuasive stuff -- decent refutations, anyone?
