Caw, caw, caw!

"Cawing Crow:" A 2011 Summer Blog

My theme is inspired by Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre's May Day 2011, "Caws to Unite." The cawing crow can symbolize:

  • People banding together around the world, calling "UNITE!"
  • Looking backward as you move forward: gather the best of what our past has to teach us
  • The wretched crow with broken wings, trying to protect its nest
  • The scarecrows who scare us away from taking back our place at the table

The crow seems the perfect figure for subsistence in a cold and unforgiving land, banding in righteous protest but also wretched, and even cold to outsiders when the band can't feed itself. This summer, I'm a cawing crow.
